BEFORE THE CLASS.
It was my second opportunity of this semester to demonstrate how much I had learned. This Friday my classmate Luis and I gave the class.
First, what I learned here is that to be a good teacher we need to choose easy and not very difficult tasks because at this age, children can develop what they feel or think but they can not follow complex rules about games.
The first time that we did our planning, we choose a game in which was necessary that they can identify the letter that someone was writing in his/her back. It do not work because it was a difficult and for advanced leves.
RETURNING TO THE MAIN POINT. This time Luis and I, was thinking in game that got our attention in our classmates’ class. For example, dressing a boy/girl, doing games such as memory games, doing games in which they can run or doing movements.
We planned with the help of one classmate and friend who has the enough experience to choose the correct games.

DURING THE CLASS
I started the class, with the Hello Song, but gave to the children a image in which everyone would have one of the three faces (happy, sad and hungry). While I was singing the song they would put the imagine up in order to follow the song and doing something different. But at the beginning it does not work because they were singing the song as the know it. I tried one, two or more times until they did it. But it is hard to change their idea of follow a new version of a song.

Then, I presented the clothes vocabulary; I had some flashcards in which I had the picture and the word. I asked them to repeat and did the sound such as “shhhhhh, sssssssssssssss, ttttttt…” pronunciation sounds in order to help them to encounter and internalize the sounds according to the word. I pasted the flashcards in the whiteboard, and then asked them to say the word (as many times I could). What I did not realize was that children would get confused with the words “t-shirt, skirt and shirt,” Now I will pay attention to these words that sound similar and help students to realize the different of meaning and pronunciation.

After the presentation, I needed a game in order to internalize what they had learned, I asked to make a semi circle, then I did some movements in order students followed me. My movements were according to the vocabulary Jeans (I did the movement as if I was dressing up the jeans) and so on. They were having a fun time; they laughed so much and followed me. It was a nice time because I felt confident and happy because they were participating.

My last activity was to dress Ricardo and Fabiola. Students had the opportunity to take one paper with one imagine in it (boy or girl according to the student), I gave clue to pasted the clothes in order to dress Ricardo/Fabiola. At the beginning They were pasting the clotheds without following my directions, but I asked them to follow me and did it together. At the end everybody did what I asked. I learned that I am to be patient with children or to do commands not ask them what I want because I am the leader not they.

LUIS’S TURN

Luis did a very well job, at the beginning I thought that he would not control the children by the reason that he was asking them to pay attention. But it was the opposite something that got my attention was his activity with some flashcards.

1. Memory Game, He put some flashcards on the wall in which inside of them have a picture (vocabulary). There were 18 pairs from 1 to 10 with different colors. Children sat down in front of the wall and Luis modeled. After, Luis’ modeled, Luis chose a child to choose the first flashcards. When one of the children got the correct flashcards, everybody wanted to participate. I love this activity because even teacher thing that they are not going to participated or remember, but students love challenging games.

2. Fashion Show. One friend had told me that a fashion game is a very good way to get fun and help students to internalize vocabulary. In Luis game, he asked for 2 lines (boys  and girls) then asked to take one piece of clothes in order to choose one children to dress and at the end say “She is wearing…../He is wearing” because Luis would ask “what’s his/she wearing.” At the end everybody took a piece of clothes but they were not paying attention at all. But Luis as a good teacher asked them one by one “What she/he wearing”. I really loved that Luis improvised at that moment (because as a teacher we need to improvise and adapt to what is happening).

3. Another thing that got my attention was Good Bye Luis’ version. Before the class, he sang the song with the lyrics that he had done some minutes ago. When he had the opportunity to demonstrate what was the new version. Children did the movements that Luis asked them and got fun with this version. All the kids wanted to play with Luis. LUIS’ SONG IS WHAT STUDENTS LOVED MORE THAN OTHER ACTIVITIES.

VERY GOOD JOB LUIS

ACTIONS

ACTIONS Vocabulary:  Run, climb, eat, fly…so on Grammar:   It was the third class of the last period. I was impressed because until now I realized that we had changed, I mean we are not the same students that started the semester. We are focusing in being good teachers and how to keep the attention of our students in us. The class started with Raul which got my attention because he demonstrated that he is a good teacher. He started with a warm up in which he sang the “Hello” song· He asked SS to do different movements according what he was doing. For example, when he said “happy” they had to jump in order to demonstrate how happy they were. I loved the way that he did it because he did it many times in order to internalize the new hello version song.  Also he did clear instructions. After the warm up. Raul asked them to pick up their own names and show the picture that was inside. For example, Imelda`s name has a grandmother. Everybody participa...
