DAYS OF THE WEEK

DAYS OF THE WEEK

Vocabulary: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Grammar: What day is today?

This was the first class of our third period. My classmates Monica, Gisselt and Cristela were the teacher. They gave us some ideas of how handle with children and what activities works.

The class started at 1.15 but they asked to the children to go to the bath before to begin the class, in order to teach them the rules of the class.

After that, my classmate introduced the welcome song to children in a very good and different way. She did a line and students will follow the song and walk according some pictures that the wall. For example, If the song said Sad, student will look for sad picture and walk doing the line and so on.

These are the material that they were using, I love that they took the time to decorate and do some different games that we do not use usually. .For example, in this activity, My classmate Monica made a roulette in order to chose a topic to ask question. The roulette was divided in Family members, Numbers, colors and so on. After she chose the topic she had some question and students will try to be the first one in say the answer. This activity motivated  student to participated, also was different game and they are adapting to new games in order learn or express what they think..

The second part of the class was taught by Gisselt. She did a calendar in the whiteboard. This was a very good idea because students could practice the numbers, days of the week and colors.

Then, students sat down and pasted different color-train. They had fun and internalized about colors and days of the week. What I learned here is that even was a very good activity, teacher has to pay the attention to students in order to do not lose the classroom control. Gisselt kept the control all the time.

Third and not less important part of the class was taught by Cristela. She had a very good time relaxing to the child. They were in the floor. Cristela did a very good dynamic in which children closed their eyes while Cristela moved some days of the week, Then, students would guest what was next. For example, the first day they will see Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. After they opened their eyes, they would see Monday, Thursday and Friday.

I was impressed because until now I realized that we had changed, I mean we are not the same students that started the semester. We are focusing in being good teachers and how to keep the attention of our students in us. The class started with Raul which got my attention because he demonstrated that he is a good teacher. He started with a warm up in which he sang the “Hello” song· He asked SS to do different movements according what he was doing. For example, when he said “happy” they had to jump in order to demonstrate how happy they were. I loved the way that he did it because he did it many times in order to internalize the new hello version song.  Also he did clear instructions. After the warm up. Raul asked them to pick up their own names and show the picture that was inside. For example, Imelda`s name has a grandmother. Everybody participated and they w
