TEACHIN ING (progressive)

TEACHIN ING (progressive)

Teaching English isn’t easy but we, as teacher, need to find out a way to teach them in an easy and fun way. This time I will give you a TIP that you can apply to teach present progressive to children, adolescents or adults. I had done this game many times and it always works.

You can create flashcards or a PPP in which you can enconter the verbs that you are going to use,

After you have given the target language, you can practice. You can show a picture and they can complete or say what is the correct answer.

You can show many flascards or PPP in which ss see the picture and they can say the answer. Also, you can explain that in some cases they need to add a extra consonat, for explample in the caswe of run = ing = running

Once you have practice you can make a production activity in which students can practice that they have learned. You can ask to pick up the flashcard acording of the sentence that you say and when they go to the fornt they have to say the sentence. Who say the correct senteces will get the point.

I was impressed because until now I realized that we had changed, I mean we are not the same students that started the semester. We are focusing in being good teachers and how to keep the attention of our students in us. The class started with Raul which got my attention because he demonstrated that he is a good teacher. He started with a warm up in which he sang the “Hello” song· He asked SS to do different movements according what he was doing. For example, when he said “happy” they had to jump in order to demonstrate how happy they were. I loved the way that he did it because he did it many times in order to internalize the new hello version song.  Also he did clear instructions. After the warm up. Raul asked them to pick up their own names and show the picture that was inside. For example, Imelda`s name has a grandmother. Everybody participa...
